Spring is certainly in full bloom at Hartley Farm and they have enjoyed some incredible days out in the sunshine. Many of you will have visited the gorgeous spring lambs and calves which are a delight to customers young and old. As it’s such a great time of year to see the farm in action their Farm Open Day will be back on Sunday 1st May from 10—4pm. Barbecue enthusiasts will also want to get involved in the Butchery & Barbecue Demo on 19 May. Costing £25 per person (to include an arrival drink, tasters and your very own cut of pork to take home with you), the demonstration will show you how to create some mouth-watering cuts for the grill and head chef Gary will show you how to transform your ingredients into some irresistible alfresco dishes.

Work is currently underway expanding Neston’s shop floor to house even more of the best food and drink the west country has to offer. As well as their own award-winning meat, Neston also sources locally grown fruit and vegetables, free range eggs and freshly baked breads direct from many local farmers and producers to make sure the supply chain is short and fully traceable.
Head chef Steve Mercer has just launched a delicious new spring menu. There is an expanded breakfast menu and more wonderful veggie dishes to try too! After six years of chilli farming the owners of Wiltshire Chilli Farm have chillies running through their veins. Every colour, strength, style – you name it, they’ve tried it. What began as simple appreciation of their bold, bright flavours, developed into an avid pastime that saw them cramming hundreds of varieties on to their windowsills. Soon their homes were overrun with plants bearing fruit in abundance so they put up a polytunnel to house this obsession and the business grew from there.
Their passion for horticulture is matched only by their passion for food, which meant there was only one direction to go… chilli sauce! From a few spicy gifts for friends, the team graduated to small batches for the local farmer’s market, and saw that people couldn’t get enough of their sauces. Offering a fresh take on spice, they had hit upon a winning recipe of quality and variety. With each passing year, their passion for these fiery little peppers has only intensified and they are delighted that what started life as a hobby has flourished into a thriving business.
